Finish it UP already!!!

This quilt took longer than expected...but boy oh boy is it turning out nicely. It's spray basted right now but I'm going to pin baste it later, sometimes i find the June Tailor basting spray doesn't always stick. And it's hard to find 505 in my little town; so I make due.

Anyway. It needs to be quilted; and usually I go with my fav FMQ swirlies, but I'm wondering if this quilt, due to its strong geometrical design should be straight lined on the diagonal??

Thoughts? I'm a bit not sure about that....and I do love my FMQ.....hmm.

I wait to see what others think as I 'creep' photos on flickr to see who else has done what with a strippy quilt.
yes it's crinkly edged cuz I didn't have room to pull it all out straight

  1. I love your colors and pattern, very pretty! I am like you, quilting with swirls mostly, but I think since there are so many straight lines it would look good with that. I just finished a 1600 jelly roll quilt and I decided I "have" to do the lines across. But I am sure whatever way you quilt it, it will look beautiful. Cynthia

  2. Straight lines would work, as would FMQ. Ultimately, it's whatever would make you smile when it's all done!

  3. I think that circles or swirls would give this quilt great movement added to the straight lines in the fabric. I can't FMQ, so, hats off to you for being able to.

  4. What a lovely quilt! It feels so calm. With the FMQ, if you do straight line quilting or in the ditch perhaps, it will emphasize the geometry of it. However, the swirlies would give it a nice texture and movement. It's probably just a matter of what feeling you're going for.

  6. Thanks everyone!! I did go for the FMQ in large swirls and swoops, and yes, it DOES add more dimension to it. Once it's all trimmed and bound I'll put more pics up!
