THAT was a hot minute!!!

SO OMG here we are in July. And it's halfway gone.

(I know, I know...every post nearly starts with how fast the time is flying but COME ON it's July!)

The world has changed so much, and thankfully we seem to be entering into the "new normal".
I'm still a bit leery about going out & socializing overmuch; but, isn't it nice? To be able to 'run to the store' again and things are actually on the shelves?
I don't know about you but I've realized how dang much I took for granted.
And how thankful I am for everything that we do have.

So...where did I go? What happened? Well, let me tell ya.
I've been making masks! Sewing like a fiend!

Jay & I volunteer foster with All Paws Rescue, and it seemed like a great fit to help raise some much needed funds. So I started sewing for All Paws Rescue
and donating $5 from each 10$ mask.

A month later, after bringing back a rehabbed raccoon we had trapped & brought to them,
I discovered that Procyon Wildlife  had had *no* fundraising happening and was in dire need.
So for them I'm also donating $5 from each $10 mask made.
Purchasers can choose which rescue to donate to.
If you don't know who they are, please click both their links above!

Boy oh boy. Nearly 1500 masks made, over 15 KMS of thread sewn, and still going strong!

WIP Wednesday!

Hey everyone!

I hope you are doing well & staying safe & healthy.

Spring has finally sprung....I can sew with my window open. It's great. I love hearing the birds!

So do the cats LOL.

A lot of the time I sew with background movies on...my absolute FAVOURITE is Jane's Austens' "Pride and Prejudice" the 1995 BBC version. All 6 glorious hours of it.

What is your go-to movie/show to watch while you sew?

As always! It's WIP WEDNESDAY!!!
Link up what you're working on in the comments!
Don't forget you can post pics over on IG!!

See you next week!

The first WIP Wednesday of May!

Finally May!

Getting warmer, and we are able to be outside more and more! Yay!

I hope you're still working away & being safe & healthy.

I've still got projects to finish. I know.  Nuts.

Like, it's crazy how many projects just...sat. For years.

I mean some were my love projects;
like the low-volume scrap quilts, and the rainbow block scrap quilts.

Scrappy quilts are never quite finished, until you finish them. I know that makes sense, somehow.

So, what's your week been like?

Link up!! brag a bit!

And of course posted here & on Insta at wonderbunnie_designs.

WIP Wednesday! Yep- double checked. It's Wednesday.

It's Wednesday again!
Crazy how fast time is moving !

I know I always say that but...it really is going fast, even in this time of quarantine.

I think the hardest thing during this time of isolation is missing our family & friends.
While our day-to-day working has pause, Life has not.
Birthdays, Births, Deaths....things are still going on.

My heart breaks for those losing their parents & loved ones during this time.
I know things will get better; and I don't mean to be all serious.

And there are ways we can still see each other; online, video calls, etc etc.
And for now the mail service is still working, so we can even send little gifts in the mail to people!
(Properly sanitized, of course!)

I have a few projects for gifts I can't post yet. But in the meantime...
I've been doing lots of little alterations this week. You know...finally mending pants, hemming jeans, altering tops, etc etc etc.

I always have excellent help in the sewing room.

So it's WIP Wednesday where you can post your progress, or link up with your recent posts!

WIP Wednesdays - Netflix & Sew...

Hey all! It's Wednesday!!
WIP day...and.... a *gasp* ....confession....

I've had a thing for Jason Bateman since he was on Silver Spoons.

I was 10. He was 12. Le sigh.
Now I'm ...older. Still have a sweet spot for him. I've been watching Ozark the last few weeks. It's dark. But really good. (And there's scene where you get to see his bum. Woot!)

But I digress.....

Time to get out & dust off those long-neglected or brand new projects!

For me, I'm working on getting through my half finished/half started bin of quilts.

Because it was cold and raining most of last weekend; I ended up getting this one done ahead of time.
I worked on my point matching skills on this one. My first time working with HSTs!

This "Starflower Quilt"  that was originally supposed to be for our wedding bed back in 2015. I started it in 2014,  finished it all the way to the sandwiching, then never quilted or finished.
Here's a photo of the completed block & top:

OF course, all work approved by Muffin.
Completed! I used hot pink thread and binding.

Link up below, show us what you're working on!

You can see the FMQ. Zazi really liked it.

Link up & show off your projects!

WIP WEDNESDAYS.......Rainbow Postage Stamp Quilt WIP....

And now it's April; Easter has come and gone.
The world is a different place; and we are all adapting.

Some days, I've got a lot of energy, and buckle down and sew, sew, sew.
Other days, I have my coffee, watch the birds, and just sort of...wander around.

I'm doing my best though to plow through all my old projects...my WIPS, UFOS and other planned items.
This is an old unfinished post I found sitting in my Drafts; from  *gasp* August 2018!

I had a "Postage Stamp Quilt* on my bucket list; but let's be honest; I'm waaaay too impatient to fussy cut 2 inch x 2 inch squares.

So I...cheated. LOL. Bought a jellyroll of 2 inch strips.
Put them in rainbow order and here you go!

I'll post the finish on an upcoming Finish it Up Friday :)

The photos are the ones I originally had; they are dark & unedited;
I think honestly is sometimes good in blog posts.

I hope you're doing as good as you can be during this, Link up & show me what You are working on!

Sewed the strips in colour order; and then cut them into strips.

Reattached them & added sashing.

I honestly think I made the borders way too wide. I might pull it apart and narrow them.

Yes, Yes, I know. I need to trim those threads.

Excellent supervisors.

Happy Half Price Chooolate Day! & some ramblings.

No matter what you celebrate, today is traditionally HALF PRICE Easter chocolate day!
This year, of course, it's a tad different.

Yep, still quarantining. Which is good. NOT complaining. Doing our part to flatten the curve.
Ontario just announced another full 21 days, so that brings us to...mid-May.

I think the biggest realization (and biggest adjustment to make, for me) was how much time and money I would just waste 'running out' to just get 'one thing' and then be out at the shops for, oh, you know. Like hours. Anyone else?

I was fine the first week, it was great! A whole week off. I got a lot done.
But then the restrictions shut down everything and so I couldn't just 'run out' anymore.

Being forced to use what we have on hand. Made me realize, full stop-

How. Fortunate. We. Are.

We have food, toilet paper, supplies to make stuff, I can sew, I can fix things, I can watch all the tv & internet I want.

It's made me realize what's truly truly truly important.
(I know, you thought I was gonna say Outrageous)

SO of course I'm using the time to plan new projects   go through my bins and bins of Unfinished Objects and Works In Progress.

Wednesdays I'm gonna do WIP Wednesdays here & on IG
Fridays, FIF (finish it up Fridays) here and on IG.

Sure we might miss one or two, but that's okay.

Link up, post your FIFS and WIPS!
We are separated, but we are together!!!

Finish it Up Friday!

Friday again!

What's on your FIF list?

My quilt below is a vintage-thrifted sheet & remnants of a costume I wore...it was (shamefully) in my UFO pile since....2014. Eep.

Pre finish

The soft browns and pinks of the sheet made me happy...even though it's faded in some spots I didn't care.
The mixed solid pink blocks are from some of my old costumes from the 2000's which I couldn't just...scrap.

I finally squared it off, fixed the backing & quilted it this past week.
The lighting is a bit bright but it's lovely.

Go ahead, share your links in the comments!

Monday, March 30, 2020

Well, here we are.

Welp. There goes March.

And what a March it was.

It feels like it was 8000 days long (Thanks, Ken for that joke it's awesome).
Still in quarantine mode and staying at home. Venturing out once a week for groceries; and afternoon walks. Making sure to social distance, of course.

In other good news, my bday is next month. Yes! I'll be 27. (ahem). But what with the quarantining and it falling on Good Friday, I can't imagine we'll be doing much to celebrate.

Here's a roundup of some projects happening here.

Finally plowing through my UFO bin....

Upcycled this sad & stained flowergirl dress into.....
BLAMMO!! Rainbow Flower Sparkle Power Dress!
Ack. I've had these unfinished Disney Bound CIrcle Skirts floating around forever...all done now!
Decided to finally paint the sewing room! From blah brown to...
A gorgeous bright Tiffany Blue!
Fixing my dress I made ages ago....it *shrunk*....ahem...

QUARANTINE COOKIES
Something I've wanted to do for ages...brighten up the front door!

And of course, a little bit of knits in the evenings.

What're you working on? Feel free to link up in the comments!

Are people still reading blogs?

Blogs. Are they still a thing? Or is it all 'on the 'gram' now?

I mean, I still have my fav people I follow & read; but a lot of them, like myself; have kinda gone awol from time to time and only post pics on Instagram.

I get it. Social media is WORK. And not in the fun kind of werk. Like actual WORK.

By the time I've come up with content, added & edited pics, tried to schedule a few posts in advance, and then co-ordinate to pop up on Insta & FB as well, sheesh. 4 hours have sped by and that's time not spent in the studio creating.

I'm small. Like, just me small. Me. And I get that to stay relevant & competitive you gotta do all this stuff; I'm not at the point where I feel I can hire someone. Maybe one day.

So like... I don't know. Keep posting? Okay. But like all the cool kids say...you can find me on Insta.... Wonderbunnie Designs
