Works in Progress

Black & White & Red all over Disappearing 9 Patch Baby quilt. Not quite finished, WIP!
Summer Quilt for my Mama; layout stage. Muffin is a good helper.
Ever have a moment when you see fabric and you OOOOH out loud?! Yeah. This one I might have to keep! Muffin approved.
My sewing room; the cutting table is a fold up that goes away  so we can still use the room for guests.

Update & Happy Mardi Gras!!!!

Lots going on here at The Quilt Cave. Christmas was lovely, gifts exchanged and everyone enjoyed the Big Turkey Dinner. (That I nearly dropped on the floor, but that's another story a la Mr. Bean).

I haven't had much time for sewing, we are in the process of selling the house and so, must keep everything contained and neat and orderly. *Snort*

I do have a few WIPS (of course) and plenty of UFOS....
A new favourite full sized WIP

! I did finish a whole bunch of Bloomers however for the shop, to go along with the Custom designs, and  I think I will be adding more colours this summer...keep your eyes peeled!

Well y'all, as they say down in N'awlins.... Laissez les bons temps rouler!!
Someone has claimed this Sprocket pillow as his own.

A few pics for you on this blustery cold Feb Mardi Gras....

The BEST spelling mistake ever....read carefully...a little sewing humour

MY favourite couch blanket made with Moda and Bernat yarns, it's twin sized, took me almost a year. Ha. Perfect to snuggle under...

Purple Purple Purple FINISHED!

Woohoo!!!

At long last.....it's done!

Today I trimmed, snipped, and finished. Everything is now packed and ready to be sent
(Lizcarrit if you're reading this THANKS for your patience!)

I wonder why some projects come together in one day and others that SHOULD be simple don't and take forever. Or little mistakes pile up and then it's a Huge one that requires h o u r s of unpicking.

At any rate; here are my two finishes for the weekend, and a new custom order that I'm working on the layout for:

I love the disappearing 9 patch pattern.

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's WEDNESDAY!!!

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

It's WIP WEDNESDAY!

Okay! Time to get seriously focused here.

Projects to finish this week::

Finish quilting the Teenagers' P&G Quilt....this pic is just the top; I just have to finish quilting the sashing and bind it!

I have to cut these and start on my modified Hawaiian Sunset pattern. This will become TWO quilts; one king and one queen.
Both are for Christmas. Am I insane????

Last but not least...I have to finish tidying up this one and start quilting it. Not sure but I think I'll quilt just INSIDE the blocks cuz the shiny fabric might not work out to well with being quilted. I'll test it...but I'm pretty sure I'll leave the shiny bits be.

Alright! I'm off to the Quilt Cave to start my day! Enjoy your WIP Wednesday, may it be productive and FUN!

Quilt for Fred's Mom

I love my friend Fred. He is one terrific guy. And even though I've never had the pleasure of meeting her, his Mom is also one terrific lady, and MAN can she cook.
So; my first finished (almost) commissioned quilt is for Mrs. F; and I hope she likes it. I wanted something homey but bright, so I chose yellows and browns and pinks for the main colours.
Assembling the Springtime Blocks

Piles of completed blocks

The finished blocks assembled and laid out; on grass so yes it's wobbly looking

The Blue border I like best so far. The quilt isn't skewed I need to work on my photo skills.

Springtime Block
The borders have  kinda stumped me; I had a pink in mind but then I thought it might be too 'young' for her; so then I thought, well, I can use the yellow floral  that is the main large triangle colour. But I wanted to use that for the backing and thatmight be too much
So now......I'm thinking I'm gonna add a border of bright royal blue with a feathery type pattern on it...wonder about some input? Thoughts?
Well... I went and added the blue border; I will post some pics in a bit. I think it's coming together pretty nicely.

Mom's Quilt is Finished!

Wellllllllllllll It's all finished!

All the threads trimmed, bound neatly and ready to go! It's a bit too square than I had first planned but, I'm pretty happy with it.
's favourite colours are coral and rust and coppery colours; I hope she likes this.

She told me about the heavy quilts she slept under as a child; and I used a heavy blanket and batting for the fill. It's nice and toasty warm; I tested it out watching TV last week and it worked really well. Nice and warm. :)
I hope she likes this!

I just used big squares and stitched in the ditch, added some sashing and hand stitched the hearts. There's also a "I love you Mom" in the border by the corner. Let's see if she finds it.
