"Sheroes" Quilt!

Wonderwoman was my childhood hero. She (and some of her pals from the Justice League) used to be my invisible friends too.
But um, I'm over that now.
Ahem.

For the next generation. It was pretty spectacular.

I first found this amazing fabric a few years ago; but it languished until I found the 'right' idea for it.
I'm sure you do that too; that 'special' fabric you find and then it sits...sometimes for years.....

All the Girls are here. Batgirl, Supergirl, AND Wonderwoman.

As always, I use an African Wax Print in a black and white.

Also found this new geometrical print; so I've added that in .

I always reinforce the corners; especially on quilts I know kids will be using a lot.

Alternating the colours of turquoise, bright reds, and light and dark grey in the star blocks.

Here are the finishes! These are available in the shop, allow 2-3 weeks for completion!

This is the Baby version; it's about 3.5 x 3.5

CHANGES!

Cha-cha-chaaanges....♪♫♪....LOL Now I've got you humming some David Bowie.......

 Here are some BEFORE photos::

My Inspo board. I hung these giant corkboards myself. Didn't go so well; they aren't too stable. They'll be coming down.
Super excited.
Just before Christmas, we (finally) replaced the old bunk beds in my sewing room with a futon.
I know, I know. But we needed something that was compact, that had storage underneath and could still function when we have guests. (And it was on sale, so there was that)

I have a ton of photos from shows I've done and places I've been, plus art work; they all need to be rearranged and into proper frames.

Tons of family photos & momentoes.

One of my Christmas gifts from my amazing husband and partner in crime...is a custom made sewing desk. To my specs. AND most importantly; my height. I'm 5'8" with long legs so normal height desks I'm still hunching over when cutting...and that's important when you're cutting and trimming for days.

How my desk was set up. Crammed into a corner and no space.

I scoured Pinterest & other such design blogs to really decide what I needed. And then got lost for HOURS on there. (Anyone else do that? You're laughing at me right now aren't you...) I now also have serious plans for redoing our back deck LOL.

Tons of WIPS just sorta....shoved in.

My fabric is folded (ish) into colour order fabric bins. These shelves are a bit wobbly and some will be replaced.

Too much clutter. This photo was taken during spring clothes clean up. It's not usually THIS bad I swear.

Add in the fact that we were already putting in new windows on our second floor; more light? PERFECT!

In the home stretch.... CANNOT wait to show you my New Sewing Room!

In order to cut and design fabric; I had to set up and tear down each time a portable folding table.

"Heart On" Custom Design Quilt -

I love my friend Heath.

He is smart, and funny, and one of the kindest and most generous men you will ever meet.
He also has a very naughty side (don't we all) and every now and then....well.

I had quite a few orders for my "Sheroes" quilt just before Christmas; (post to follow) and in the midst of those I received a VERY hilarious message in the wee hours of the morning.

First off; I was like, "Huh. Never thought about that on a quilt."
Then; "I wonder if anyone ever made this before?"
After a quick Google search; nope. Never been made (or maybe just not posted?).

So I started from scratch with some sketches.
Worked out that HST's would work best for shaping, and pattern.

This led to some very funny conversations with J about size and girth as I moved pieces around.

Going with a blue and purple theme (Heath's fav colours) I decided that the design should be not noticed at first glance.

That it should slowly dawn on you what the actual quilt is.
So.

I decided to call it the "Heart On" Quilt....

The Quilt coming together under Muffin's watchful eye.

Muffin came whipping through and messed up the blocks!!

Good thing she's cute.
After Muffin decided to 'help' me; I realized that this was more complicated that I'd originally thought. I grabbed a giant piece of fleece to use as a design board. The fleece 'grabs' the fabric and so it doesn't slide around. Also, you can roll and fold when you need to stop/start.

I was messing with the colours; going from dark to light. It wasn't quite what I wanted though.

Getting closer.

Final layout; I like this one.

Vamp did the roll-for-comfort test. Approved.
Georgia approved.
Love love love the stained glass look when it's back lit!
Quilt top sewn together; the blues were just glowing in the afternoon snowy light.
Testing for size on our bed. Perfect!
Brought him up on stage to give him his quilt LOLOL

All finished. The "Heart On" Quilt for my friend, Heath.

A New Year!

Hellooooo 2019!

Yes, I realize that it's mid February - but it's still new to me.

Back from vacation & ready to get sewing! I had a few custom orders over the holidays & posts will follow shortly.
My custom ordered "Heart On" quilt

Wedding season is upon us and I have some customs to get working on.
Can't wait to share!

The trouble makers. Muffin on the left, Vamp on the right.

Shortly before Christmas we had  one of our furbabies get super sick; turned out she was in STAGE 4 KIDNEY Failure....our hearts were breaking as we dealt with Muffin's situation....but thanks to the excellent care at North Town Veterinaary she is on the mend and still with us.

Muffin at the Vet. She wasn't feeling so well.

Of course, not to be outdone her sister Vamp decided to dislocate her knee by jumping 6 feet down from our cat climber. After X-rays it's been determined that she needs a rebuilt AND she's got terrible arthritis....her surgery is Feb 27th. Le sigh

Needless to say...it was a very expensive Christmas & New Year's.
Thank you to everyone that ordered from my Etsy shop to help support us during this!!

Everything is reactivated & ready to go online; feel free to drop by & peruse !
